Ninoof’s mayor Guy D’Haeseleer has to stay in the hospital for longer to recover from a liver transplant. « My stay at UZ Gent is unexpectedly extended, » he himself reports in a message on social media.
After a one-month stay in the hospital, the Forza Ninove mayor is still not allowed to go home. D’Haeseleer was admitted to the hospital on Thursday 3 April with « a severe and heavy form of hepatitis », an inflammation of the liver. He needed a liver transplant, and received it more than two weeks ago even after an intensive search for a suitable donor liver.
Last week the message came from Ninoof’s ships Dany Goessens that the recovery of D’Haeseleer is positive and that it is « pretty good » with the mayor. But now it is clear that he still has to stay in the hospital for a little longer to recover from his life -saving operation.
« My stay at UZ Gent is unexpectedly extended … We don’t give up! Thank you for the thousands of messages, but we are now going to concentrate on the recovery and hope for a happy ending. Greetings Guy and family, » writes D’haeseleer on Facebook.
The precise reason for the extended stay, and if he could leave the hospital, was not publicly announced.
