Germany faces the challenge of both form a stable government and boosting economic growth. The large financial packages for defense and infrastructure quickly existed between the Union and the SPD. But when it comes to tax and financial issues, especially savings and cuts, the parties are split. Both want tax reliefs for companies and citizens, but there are different opinions about the financing of these measures.

The SPD favors a redistribution: it primarily wants to relieve the lower layers of income and get the money from above. In contrast, the Union rejects tax increases. It relies on the economy and would like to make savings in the social spending.

The two party leaders Markus Söder from the CSU and Lars Klingbeil from the SPD want to discuss how these different approaches can be agreed with each other on Thursday in the talk show « Maybrit Illner ». The economist Jens Südekum and Hildegard Müller, President of the Association of the Automotive Industry, will also bring in their assessments.
