Group Jumprava withdraws in the pre -election concert / day

The band’s concert was promised free of charge, but it would have been sponsored by the « Latvia in the first place » (LPV).

« We are informing us that we are withdrawing our participation in the June 5 concert in Andrejsala. This date was booked half a year earlier for Jumprava, but at no time it was not a political campaign, » the group said in a statement, « Jumprava unites people in freedom and music and categorically refuses to serve any political campaign. »

As reported, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) was promised to assess whether the LPV -sponsored concert, which was treated as a charity event, has been funded in accordance with the requirements of regulatory enactments.

The KNAB noted that during the pre -election campaign period, political organizations could organize and pay for concerts or other public events themselves. According to the pre -election campaign law, a concert that provides free entrance is treated as a charity event and the political organization can only cover its own private funding, such as donations from natural persons. The KNAB confirmed that the LPV had announced the KNAB about the planned charity event.
