Greenski proposes a ceasefire until he meets Putin
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has proposed a ceasefire while a meeting between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
« My proposal, which I believe that our partners can support, is to propose to the Russians’ ceasefire to a leadership meeting, » Zreki said at a news conference in Kiev.
He added that the conditions for peace set by Moscow are ultimatums.
Greenski’s statement refers to the conditions contained in a memorandum that Russia handed over to Ukraine earlier the week, which envisions the withdrawal of the Ukrainian army from four regions that Moscow claims to annex them.
– It is an ultimatum that the Russian side imposes us. Therefore, in my opinion, they did not publish the document before the negotiations, because they know that if it was announced, Ukraine would have had a full right not to come to a meeting in Istanbul – the Ukrainian president said.
He added that it makes no sense to continue negotiations in Istanbul with the existing delegations, as after two rounds they did not work.
« I think Russia is ready to continue the exchange of captives, but the current Russian delegation, led by a second -class advisor from the president’s cabinet, is not at the level to discuss ceasefire, » Greenski said. According to him, the continuation of the diplomatic meetings at that level « makes no sense ».
