Greenpeace: Croatia can get all electricity from renewable sources since 2030!
Today, on World Environment Day, Greenpeace’s study « 100% Renewable by 2030 – Plan for the Green Transition of Croatian Electricity » was presented in Zagreb. The study was created by the expert team under the guidance of prof. Ph.D. Goran Krajačić from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb. The event was also held by panel-raspaurs among representatives of state institutions, scientific institutions, economies and civil society.
The climate crisis she has cooked still heated the fossil industry affects the whole world, including Europe and Croatia. Losses have been measured by human lives for years and have been manifested in increasing material damage caused by extreme weather conditions. The Greenpeace program leader in Croatia, Petra Andric, emphasizes: « A strong turning to renewable energy sources is an environmentally correct decision, but also a strategic move that strengthens our energy security, reduces fossil fuel addiction and brings economic opportunities. »
The study shows that it is an ambitious goal for Croatia to get all electricity from renewable sources from 2030. It is very reach, primarily by turning the energy of the sun and wind and investments in the laptop network. Thus, the share of solar power plants would rise to 5 gw and the wind farm to a total of 4.2 GW. Examples from our environment testify that it is possible to install larger capacity to produce electricity from renewable sources from those proposed by a new study for Croatia. In the last five years – and we have just so much left to the target 2030. For comparison, Croatia has only reached a total of 1 GW of sunlight these days, despite being in the European top by solar potential.
Study Manager prof. Ph.D. Goran Krajačić points out: “The main recommendations indicate that a solid political decision is needed in order for Croatia to satisfy the total electricity consumption from renewable sources. Such a decision should include clear signals according to the improving the electricity system and the construction and strengthening of the network and ensuring energy storage. Communities that produce, storage and share energy, and in some way share their own energy future. «
The very constructive panel-Raspravi in front of a numerous audience with Professor Krajačić was attended by Dušica Radojčić (Croatian Parliament), Mario Stipetic (MZOZT), Davor Škrlec (FER), Melani Furlan (ZEZ) and Nina Domazet (HGK), and was moderated by Robert Pašičko (Undp). The topics of transmission networks and energy storage, the great interest of investors for renewable sources, administrative obstacles, the prices of green transitions, interests and role of citizens in energy transition, have been opened the next link.
