Green tea helps to burn fat, but it’s not enough for weight loss
According to doctors and experts, green tea helps burn fat, but this is not enough in itself, explains Betan Kraus, nutritionist at Lafboro University in Central England. It is, in fact, a process that melts fat, which leads to weight loss and muscle mass, but not without exercise and a little longer, writes the British Guardian.
– When we talk about « fat burning », we talk about body fat oxidation. It is a breakdown of lipids in fatty acids used as fuel. Regular exercise can increase the oxidation rate of fat. When practicing low to moderate intensity, fats provide most of that fuel for muscle function. As the intensity increases, this is moving to use more carbohydrates – explained Kraus.
However, she adds that there is no such thing as fat -burning foods. Eating, he says, in that case, would have to « have the effects of exercise » to oxidize fat.
– So where does the idea that green tea burn fat? Caffeine – found in green tea, increases fat oxidation in relatively high doses, in some circumstances – says Kraus.
Caffeine, namely, increases the release of adrenaline and noradrenaline hormones that stimulate energy.
However, the doctor says that research does not advise us that only caffeine should be used for changes in the body. This, especially since even when we exercise intensively and oxidize a lot of fat, and if we are in energy excess and consume more calories than we burn, our body mass will not decrease.
– Absolutely, you can burn fatty acids instead of carbohydrates, and still not lose body mass. So don’t rely on the excitement of superfood and food supplements! They are very big, bold claims- says Kraus.
Instead, the doctor advises: Increase physical activity and gradually reduce the number of calories you consume.
