Green confirmed: ‘They invited us to the NATO summit to The Hague’
Ukraine received an invitation to participate in the upcoming NATO summit in The Hague, President Volodimir Zeleni told reporters on Monday.
« We are invited to the NATO summit. I think that’s important, » he said.
The invitation to Ukraine was sent during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Vilnius.
Green did not tell if he would travel to the Netherlands himself. The Summit of Member States of the NATO Military Association should be held in The Hague for just under three weeks.
On Monday, the so -called B9 countries, Nordic, Baltic and Central European members of NATO who said they had been handed over to Ukraine membership in the Western Military Federation.
Ukraine has been fighting Russian invasion for over three years with the support of the West.
One of the conditions set by Russian President Vladimir Putin for the end of the war in Ukraine, it includes that Western leaders are obliged to write down that they will stop spreading NATO on the east. It also requires the abolition of part of the sanctions.
Preventing Kiev joining NATO is one of the main reasons that Kremlin also states to launch an attack on neighboring Ukraine.
