Green about Orban’s support to Russia: ‘It’s a historic mistake!’
In an interview with the Hungarian Media Válasz Online posted on Tuesday, Green accused Orban of using propaganda against Ukraine for his internal political goals.
« He uses Ukraine for his own election purposes, » said the Ukrainian president. « He does not understand that this will leave a lot more serious and more dangerous consequences. Without helping us, he does Put’s service. So I said that Viktor makes a serious, historical mistake. »
For weeks, Orban’s government spends campaigning against the assistance of Ukraine and opposes the country to be admitted to the European Union. The main message of the campaign is that the help of Ukraine will draw Hungary into war and damage the economy.
The banners are also portraits of Zelensky. « How can I use my face for my choices. I didn’t give him permission to do so, » Zeleni said.
Zelensky recalled that in May this year, the Ukrainian security service (SBU) was arrested by two Ukrainian Hungarian nationalities suspected of spying on Hungarian military intelligence service. He said that evidence was found who were not published to the public.
In response, Hungary was arrested by a spy that allegedly works for Ukraine, which is close to the Hungarian opposition leader Peter Magyr.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto rejected the criticism, confirming that politics towards Ukraine will be the central issue of the Hungarian parliamentary elections 2026.
Green wants a « puppet government » in Hungary, which will send money, soldiers and weapons to Ukraine and « support the war itself, » said Szijjarto, according to the Hungarian news agency MTI.
« The 2026 parliamentary elections will be about whether Hungary will have a war-nasty, Ukraine affected puppet government or a national government that supports peace and a Hungarian distance from the war, » he said.
Hungary, a country of EU and NATO member, should hold parliamentary elections in early 2026. Orban, which has been in power since 2010, is under pressure because the new Magyar Hungarian Conservative Party Tisza has an advantage in polls.
