« Great safety » on dangerous roads turned out to be under 6 kilometers
For most of the critical sections, the safety measures consist of cosmetic repairs, shows a detailed reference to the RIA’s prescriptions. Half critical points are on first -class roads
A total of 15 of the dangerous sections, now scheduled for repair and safety, are on first-class roads, which are one of the busiest, including as part of international transport corridors. The most serious is the situation in the direction of Ruse-Makaza (Republican Road I-5), with six sections with concentrations of crashes.
Along the Vidin-Sofia-GKPP Kulata (road I-1) they are 4. Two are sections with concentration of road accidents along the Republican Road I-3 (Byala-Botevgrad) and one on roads I-7 (from Silistra-Kalarash border checkpoint (Benko).
Only on the first-class roads I-8 (from the border with Turkey at Kalotina to the border with Turkey at Malko Turnovo) and I-9 (from the border with Romania at Durankulak, to the border with Turkey at Malko Turnovo), there are no dangerous road sections.
What are the dangerous sections of highways
The general decision in such cases is a major overhaul, in which the slope is adjusted so that the water flows go away from the roadway. How will the dangerous sections secure
In each of the sections, there are several mandatory repetitive prescriptions, which include the replacement of old or the placement of new road signs – A40 « Attention! A section with concentration of road accidents », renewal of existing signs and placement of new, if necessary, yellow -green fluorescent light -protective background.
In some places there is a longitudinal noisy marking to enhance the attention of drivers, restoration of the mantinels and the marking, etc. There are few cases in which a change of traffic organization is envisaged, such as prohibiting overtaking, on road I-3 at km 130 in the Pleven district. The maximum speed is reduced in a total of five of the 36 sections. In one place, part of the Vidin-Montana road, reinforcement of the taller-class mantinels is required. There is also one segment – in the area of the crash where 12 -year -old Siana Popova, where a layer of adhesion, is required.
The mass sections that are renewed are 100 meters long. The longest is 600 meters, affecting the roundabout at the beginning of the Struma highway at the connection with the Sofia Ring Road. This is also the place with the most activities for realization-placement of new road signs « Attention! A section with concentration of road accidents », replacement of road signs and their placement of yellow-green fluorescent reflective background, restoration and replacement of all the mantinels in the section, restoration of the road marking marking and restoration and maintenance of lighting fixtures at the roundabout. A new organization of the motion to change speed regimes must also be created in order to harmonize the speed of entry into the roundabout.
Basic repairs are needed but no money

However, the documents for them must be approved beforehand and the contractors selected. No less the problem is the fact that there are no funds provided for such repairs.

Who and how finds out if one time is dangerous
The Ministry of Interior Control Services are those who have annually established the sections where there has been a concentration of road accidents in the last year, according to the Regulation on Road Infrastructure Safety Management Procedures. It also indicates a methodology by which a path is defined as such with an increased concentration of crashes.
The assessment takes into account the length of the section, the intensity of the movement on it and the crashes. A minimum number of accidents is also indicated, after which a section is defined as such with a concentration of a crash. For example, for a section of 100 meters from a road, which pass an average of 2,000 motor vehicles daily, the minimum number of accidents is three. For comparison, in order to be declared a dangerous section of 100 meters, but from the road with intense traffic – from over 35,000 motor vehicles a day, it should have become five or more catastrophes.

The information on the hazardous roads is submitted to the RIA, the State Agency for Traffic Safety and the mayors of municipalities. The administration, which manages the respective road, should approve short and long -term measures to secure the sections with a concentration of an accident, and every 6 months – to submit a report on the implementation of these measures.
