The administration in Sofia gave information about the vacancies for the children of the 2024 set (the first nursery group), 2023 (the second nursery group) and 2022, which are to be in the first garden group. The Directorate -General for Civil Registration and Administrative Services (GRAO), on the other hand, gave information about those born in the capital for the three years.
The number of those who are the age of a crib or a garden is not necessarily equal to the number of applicants, including that most parents take advantage of the second year of motherhood – this is how the majority of children start from the second nursery group and the competition is higher there. Some families may not participate in the race for a municipal kindergarten at all. However, the data is indicative of the system’s willingness (or absence) of taking care of the children.
They review the data on the born (respectively the so-called nurseries and gardens) in the different metropolitan areas and the vacancies show that the shortage is the most serious in « Krasna Polyana », « Sredets » and « Triaditsa ». There is only between 6% and 9% of the vacancies there. There are most places in nurseries and kindergartens for the population in the Poduyane, Lyulin, Kremikovtsi and Pancharevo districts. There is a place for every second child in a municipal establishment.
The data for the metropolitan areas are divided into two graphics, arranged by those with the least places in order. In his answers, the MRDPW does not point out for the last three years in the districts of Novi Iskar and Bankya to be registered newborns, and in Pancharevo – only two. As a significant reason for the shortage of places, the municipality indicates the lack of medical staff. « It is obligatory to have at least one nurse to raise the children in each nursery group. The shortage of nurses is also available in hospitals, and for the cribs it is already overwhelmed. We have found a new crib for 6 groups, but we have announced a reception for only 2 of them due to lack of staff, » the position of the Sofia administration reads.
