Grandma from Zambi is a fashion icon
For his friends and neighbors in Rural Zambia, Margret Chola is just a nice grandmother with affinity according to pre -monitoring sunglasses.
But on the Internet, the real fashion icon with as many as 200,000 followers on Instagram – all thanks to her granddaughter who lent her several clothing pieces for a series of cool photos.
Chola, which in her mid -eighties, became an internet sensation after agreed to replace her clothes with her grandson and pose in bold turquoise dresses and silver suits.

The photos immediately became a hit on Instagram, received a thousand likes within a few minutes of the post. Chola, who lives on the farm north of Lusaka's capital, posed on a leather sofa with blue wig and large green glasses.
She also posed in Chitenge her grandchildren, a colorful clothing piece worn wrapped around her waist.
– I had nothing to do at the time, so I just said, 'Ok. If you want it, let's go – why not? ' I will miss you when I die, and this is how you will at least remember me – Chola recalled in an interview with the BBC.
Her granddaughter Diana Kaumba, a stylist from New York, visited Zambia on the occasion of her father's second anniversary when she received inspiration.
« I thought it would be nice to wear MBUYA in high fashion and take pictures in her natural environment, » Diana told the BBC.
– I was very nervous when I posted my first photo. I left my cellphone for 10 minutes, and when I came back, there were 1000 likes. I was stunned. The comments came from all sides, and people were looking for more, ”she added.
Chola even poses next to the goat in one photo, carrying a gold crown, sunglasses and a royal jacket with gold buttons. The photo is called « Goat », which is a word game and an acronym for « Greatest of All Time) often uses a generation of Z.
In an interview with the BBC, Chola said she hoped her photos would inspire her Instagram followers to « live their lives and don't worry about what society will say. » She also advised people to « always forgive themselves for the mistakes they made. »
