Governor expands withdrawal prohibition from uncomfortable watercourses in East Flanders (inland)

East Flanders

In East Flanders, the Governor has expanded the temporary prohibition of withdrawal for the non-navigable watercourses and public canals because the water levels, despite the rain of the past days, remain very low. From Tuesday, no water may be pumped up from 47 withdrawal zones in the province.

The rain of recent days has not caused a long -term increase in water levels, the province reports. That is why the Governor of East Flanders has decided to introduce a temporary prohibition of withdrawal in six new withdrawal zones, in addition to the prohibition that had been in force in 41 withdrawal zones since 9 April. It concerns six withdrawal zones in Ghent, Laarne, Zwalm and Sint-Gillis-Waas.
