The admission of students on the public procurement will be reduced by 1918 units compared to last year’s upcoming 2025/2026. At the same time, there will be more places for paid training. This predicts project of a government decision submitted today by the Minister of Education Krasimir Valchev for one month public consultation.

Less will be the state subsidized places in specialties from 30 professional fields, including Philology, Psychology, Political Science, Law, Economics, Machine Engineering, Communication and Computer Equipment, etc. There is an increase in « Chemical Sciences », « General Engineering », « Health Care » and others.

In all 38 public higher education institutions (including military), the state will subsidize the training of 41 280 students, of which 35 454 after secondary education. They will study against state fees, whose average annual amount is BGN 1050. 16 551 units have been identified for paid training, with 1088 more than 2024/2025. PhD students will become 1577 people in public higher education institutions and 340 in scientific organizations – 210 in BAS and 71 in the Agricultural Academy.
