Government imposes restrictions on night flights in Portela

The government has launched the less noise program, funded with 10 million euros by the Environmental Fund, and will impose restrictions on night flights at Lisbon airport.

The Ministry of Environment explains that the program was created to support acoustic isolation works in buildings affected by air noise.

According to the tutelage statement, released this Saturday, the execution of the program will be in charge of the municipal councils of Lisbon, Loures, Vila Franca de Xira and Almada.

The execution will pass interventions on façades, windows and frames of housing buildings for noise -to -use, carried out between this year and the next, after the fourth municipalities launched their contests.

In addition to this program, the Council of Ministers, held on Friday, determined to Anac, aviation sector regulator, the application of restrictions on the Night Operation at Portela airport, recommended by the Night Flights Working Group, whose final report was delivered in July 2022.

Thus, there will be restrictions on the operation of noisier aircraft between 23h and 7am, in addition to the imposition of a period without 'hard-curcfew) between 01h00 and 05h00, as well as the implementation of new aeronautical procedures to reduce noise.
