Government extends deadline for payment of IMI until the end of June

The government extended by the end of June the deadline for payment of the Municipal Real Estate Tax (IMI), following the existence of “technical constraints” associated with the “blackout” of 28 April, which delayed the sending of many collection notes by the Tax Authority (AT).

« Considering that these constraints made it impossible to submit a wide range of IMI collection notes, which is underway, the government decided to extend, for all taxpayers, the deadline for payment of the first installment of IMI or, if applicable, of the sole benefit of this tax until the end of June, » reads in a statement of the Ministry of Finance, released this Thursday.

The deadline for the delivery of IRC income declaration companies was also extended until June 16 for the same reason.

« Given these temporary difficulties in access to the Finance Portal and the proximity of the new deadlines for the fulfillment of VAT tax obligations, which affected the work of companies and accountants to fulfill the IRC income statement (model 22), the government also decided to extend the deadline for the fulfillment of this obligation by June 16, » said Tatela.

It is recalled that on April 28, a widespread cut in the electric supply affected mainland Portugal, Spain, Andorra and part of France, which were practically without electricity, as well as a part of the territory of France.
