Government decisions on electricity raise passions

A woman turns about 100 kilowatt -hours of electricity a month. Encouraged by the authorities, Violet has chosen an independent supplier, but now cannot use cheaper social electricity.

« Now I pay 25 cents per kilowatt -hour. If there was a bid to pay cheaper – I would have a good desire, » said V. Venckuvienė.

The Seimas and the Ministry of Energy decided to help such as Violeta. With an independent supplier, from the first of June, they will be able to return to public supply from the first of June – provided that less than a thousand kWh or vulnerable consumers are available every year.

« Vulnerable users are those who are entitled to benefits with low income and disability. They are the most socially sensitive members of society, » explained Robert Kaunas, a Member of the Seimas (LSDP).

There will be less worries in the public supply – it will be able to stay there for another five years. The Minister of Energy says both changes will affect half of the country’s consumers.

« These provisions are relevant to 900 thousand consumers, » said Minister of Energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas.

The former Minister of Energy says that he will receive cheaper, state -guaranteed electricity, even by consumers who have not chosen any supplier in their time.

« Practically everyone who is now in the warranty will be able to move to public. We will reward those who have not complied with the law – even those who use a lot, » explained former Minister of Energy Dainius Kreivys.

Even wealthy electricity consumers were left behind.

« If you have a luxury second home at the Lithuanian seaside and you only rest there in the summer, you do not use 1000 kWh. Although you are very rich – you will pay as much as socially vulnerable individuals, » said Andrius Bagdonas, a member of the Seimas (LS).

The minister admits that he will only be viewed in kilowatt -hours, not how much a person has.

« There will be a separate object that consumes up to 1000 kilowatt -hours per year, there will be no mandatory to choose an independent supplier, » said Ž. Vaičiūnas.

We will reward those who have not complied with the law – even those who consume a lot.

Social electricity is supplied by the only company – Ignitis. However, a burst of new customers is a threat to the price of electricity itself.

« They increase their costs. The costs need to be placed somewhere – people have to work, have to buy electricity, provide, count, » explained Energy expert Martynas Nagevičius.

And the same electricity will be more expensive, others cheaper. Lower rates will be set for benefits. How much will decide the regulator.

« A few cents, but it will still be significantly lower in price, » said the Minister of Energy.

Supplier Ignitis will be obliged to buy electricity directly from the Sun and Wind Parks for socially vulnerable individuals. Also enter long -term purchase contracts so that the prices are as low as possible.

« Cheap renewed ones will remain less for the rest – a cross -subsidization.

The peasant Valius Oak suggested that the public supply also leave consumers who temporarily consume more than a thousand kilowatt -hours of electricity per year. However, the Seimas rejected the proposal.

Independent electricity suppliers have previously greeted criticism that the government will allow almost all consumers to grab only one company.
