Got paid for 14 years without meeting up on job

It sounds like a wish situation for most people if you could not attend your job and continue to receive your salary.

However, it is difficult enough to just keep a single sick day, and continue to receive your salary, so imagine what it would not require to do this for 14 years.

That was exactly what happened in the Swedish municipality, Falu, where an employee was paid for 14 years of work, even though he had not put his feet in the workplace.

None of the employees at the workplace knew of the employee, but he had nevertheless got several reports approved by his boss during the period of the 14 years.

It turns out that the boss was the man’s father, and they are now both suspected of deception in the municipality for more than three million kroner.

« The study goes on. Two people have been suspected on the basis of the information we have received and surveillance videos must be checked just as we get several different testimonies, » says Kristofer Magnusson, Deputy Minister of the Prosecutor’s Office before adding:

« My assessment right now is that we will not be ready until the turn of the year, but we will continue, » says the Deputy Minister.

A phone revealed it all

It almost sounds like a plot on a bad crime, but had it not been for a new work phone, they could probably have got off with it.

It turns out that the only reason why Falu Municipality began to arouse suspicion was that new work phones should be issued to the employees. Here, a phone was also ordered for the employee who had never showed up at work, and they wondered that his new phone was never picked up.

They therefore chose to investigate it all closer, and here they found the hops all over. 14 years the man had been paid, but he had never put his legs in the workplace.
