Gorenjska already has a regional hospital – in Jesenice!
From 20 March this year, when the government’s decision was made to be located in Kranj, the disagreement of all Gorenjska municipalities along the Sava Dolinka and Sava Bohinjka has already been expressed. As a born Jesenice, a former associate and a constant companion to the development of health care in Jesenice, I also have to express my disagreement on the placement of the Gorenjska regional hospital in Kranj. I agree with the mayor of Autumn that this decision is entirely political. I can claim that it is made on flawed analyzes, perhaps even without any analyzes.
It is an indisputable fact that the Jesenice hospital is a recognized healthcare institution, with more than a century of tradition that constantly updates its operations. A few years ago, she built a new emergency center, Heliport, a new garage, updated pharmacy activity and energy and fire repaired buildings with state taxpayer money. Patients from all over the Gorenjska region are treated at the Jesenice hospital. It is also connected by Posočje and Northern Primorska, as they are connected to the railway line. Not to mention strategic infrastructure, the railway node also with Austria, rail and road transport through the Karavanke tunnel, the factory – steelworks with frequent accidents; We should not forget about tourism, especially not winter tourism and competitions in Kranjska Gora, Planica and elsewhere. A high school medical school operates at the Jesenice hospital. In Jesenice, they constantly complement the education of health staff, which is important for the development of the Upper Gorenjska region. In 2014, the Faculty of Health started operating there, six years ago a doctoral degree was introduced. We know that the education of healthcare professionals is related to practice in healthcare facilities, with patients.
So Gorenjska already has a regional hospital – in Jesenice! Would you reject all this now? Which responsible master would throw away money for everyone built, updated, which works very well and continuously, most importantly. And why build a Gorenjska regional hospital near Ljubljana, so to speak, from scratch? This is unreasonable and extremely wasteful. Thus, taxpayer money should not be wasted! I urge those responsible for public finance to declare whether it is really cheaper to build a hospital than to increase the capacity of the present in Jesenice, which already exists and works well. And only now are we supposed to discuss what should be defined before the need for a new Gorenjska hospital! The statement of such concerns is the most picturesque witnessed by the statement of the mayor of Carniola, who said: “First of all, it is necessary to determine what the content of the new hospital will be. This will be the task of the Ministry of Health or Special Working Group, consisting of experts in the health field who know the situation in the Gorenjska region. The group will have to identify the content of a new regional hospital and existing hospitals, that is, hospitals for gynecology and obstetrics Kranj, Golnik Clinic, Begunje Psychiatric Hospital and Jesenice General Hospital. «

In addition, the Golnik should be mentioned here. Minister Matej Arčon announced that the Golnik Clinic will also move to the new Gorenjska regional hospital. We all understand that Golnik is on Golnik because of the fresh air, there is all Slovenia healing there, no one doubts their professionalism. I ask how pulmonary diseases will be treated on the land between the highway and the city center?
I propose that the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (CCP) takes a decision on the location of a new Gorenjska regional hospital under scrutiny regarding possible corruption. What interests are built into the construction decision in Kranj, while the hospital already exists and works well in Jesenice. The media reported that surgery Bitenc had a building permit for the construction of the Golnik Clinic. So are the public hospital withdrawing from a great location into the polluted environment so that it will not make competition with a private individual who will be the only one to offer services on Golnik?
Jesenice have plenty of space to expand the hospital at the lower blast, just next to the existing hospital. However, it has not yet been confirmed where the regional hospital in Kranj would be located. Would you again sacrifice the fertile land of the golden field? Where is the Ministry of Agriculture with such concerns? Each patriot hurts the heart as it looks at the excavation of quality agricultural land and in the same place the construction of concrete buildings and shopping centers. We know that the economic crisis is approaching, at an unsustainable speed. We need to be aware that we will need fertile land for our survival. We can’t eat concrete colossus!
Politicians always emphasize even regional development. With such unreasonable, without arguments, the political decision that the Gorenjska regional hospital is built in Kranj is again concentrating another activity in one place, in Kranj. This means impoverishing the Upper Sava Valley.
I would not say that the profession had canceled, but politics trampled the profession. The irresistible arrogance of different capital interests and greed prevailed.
I urge lawyers employed by the Jesenice General Hospital and in the municipality there to examine the possibilities of challenging the government’s decision on the placement of the Gorenjska regional hospital in Kranj.
