Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob said Slovenia would be honored if Russia and Ukraine accept the invitation to hold peace talks between the two countries in Ljubljana, Slovenian RTV television reported.

On Saturday, Golob participated in a live video conference for Ukraine, which was partially held live, while French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, British Prime Minister Kir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited Ukrainian President Volody. Some of the interlocutors have participated from a distance, including representatives of several countries, NATO Secretary -General Mark Rutte, European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

-The Video Conference of the Allies for Ukraine has once again confirmed the strong common will of the end of the war in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, Slovenia has been among those who believe that the road to peace begins with a bold step – ceasefire. That’s why we were among the first allies to suggest that this step be taken even before the start of peace talks. In 2001, Presidents Bush and Putin met here for the first time. Slovenia would have been honored if the two sides (sides), Ukraine and Russia, accept the invitation to hold peace talks here – in the spirit of our commitment to foreign policy, with which we have been living since the proclamation of our independence – the Slovenian government wrote on its « X » profile, quoting Robert.

They also say that Saturday’s video conference is « a confirmation of the unity of allies on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II » that Slovenia is joining the consensus that everything should be done to conclude an urgent ceasefire and support Russia’s 30-day termination.

« The pressure on Russia to accept an emergency and unconditional ceasefire must continue, » the publication said.

Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed direct negotiations with Ukraine, which, according to him, is due to be held on May 15 in Istanbul, RTV recalls.

Putin has already discussed the proposal with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who confirmed that Turkey is ready to host the talks. Ukrainian President Zelenski responds, saying they are ready for negotiations, but also expects Moscow to commit to a 30-day ceasefire starting today.

However, yesterday, Zelenski seems to agree to talk to Putin without prerequisites, as US President Donald Trump insisted.
