GNR seizes more than 900 kilos of lingeons-japanese

The GNR seized 931 kilograms of Japanese clams in Alcochete following a disregard between a group of people who had in their “irregular” bivalves in their possession.

According to a statement issued Monday by the Republican National Guard (GNR) following the disregard on Saturday, five people aged 21 to 37 were identified.

The guard elaborated an offense due to the absence of registration documents of the bivalves, sent for destruction after hygiosanitary verification.

The seizure occurred a day before the military seized more than 4.5 tons of japanese clams, also in Alcochete and in an irregular situation, and identified 15 other people, as part of an inspection action to control the catches, transport and marketing of living bivalve mollusks.

In this Sunday operation, released Monday morning, 3,301 euros in cash were seized and 15 records of offense, two notifications for voluntary abandonment of the national territory, two notifications for comparison in an agency store for integration, migrations and asylum (AIMA) and a notification to provide statements in the context of a coercive removal process (PAC).

GNR remembers in the statement that mollusks and bivalves, because they feed on water filtration, “accumulate microorganisms and chemicals”, and may, depending on their health of health, lead to microbiological contamination and cause intoxications.
