Gjergj Luca, a greeting from the heart of spiritual heritage, from the Elbasan Fortress Mosque

.

On a day filled with meetings, visits and dedication, the renowned Albanian entrepreneur, Gjergj Luca, has chosen to stop at one of the most historic and historical places of the city of Elbasan – the mosque of the castle, to convey a special greeting for his believers and friend, Imamin Ahmed Kalaja.

Accompanied by a group of friends from Oman, a country with a rich Islamic culture, Luca stopped to reflect and pray in this rare monument of Albanian cult heritage and history. He did not hesitate to share visitors’ impressions of the city of Elbasan – a city that embodies religious harmony and exemplary coexistence, which has been the pride of Albanian identity for centuries.

« A special greeting from Elbasan for my friend in Tirana Ahmed Kalaja, after praying in the Castle Mosque for the candidate Edlira Dyrmishaj, who competes in the May 11 elections. Dear Ahmed, on Friday you wait for your mosque in Tirana, please together for Edlira, which will represent the future spirit and logic in parliament! » warm and full of inspiration.

Elbasan Fortress Mosque – An early testimony of faith and resistance
This mosque, built within the walls of the Elbasan Fortress, dates back to the end of the 15th century and is attributed to the period of Sultan Bayazit II. Known as the King Mosque or the « Sultan’s Mosque », it is one of the oldest mosques in Albania, representing not only Islamic religious heritage, but also one of the most representative works of Ottoman architecture in the Albanian lands.

Its special characteristic is the construction done without the use of any metallic element, which makes this rare object a miracle of traditional construction mastery. The stone minaret, though damaged during the communist regime and then restored, still preserves the charm of yore. Its shadowy yard, with ancient trees and soothing atmosphere, makes this place a point of prayer and reflection for residents and visitors.

The mosque is evidence of a time when faith emerged through humility and harmony, not through imposition. It remains a strong symbol of the cultural heritage that Albanians, beyond religious differences, have preserved with dedication, turning Elbasan into a junction of peace and coexistence.

From the ancient stone – a message for the future
Selecting this mosque to express support for an election candidate was no accident. It comes as a call to return to pure values, the belief that inspires public service and dedication to people. For George Luca, prayer is more than a spiritual act – it is a symbolic act, which combines the spirit of tradition with the need for a more honest, more inspired and human policy.
