Girlfriend jumps in the breach for East-Flemish family that gets involved in a fatal accident in Thailand: « Partner and daughter remain desperately behind » (Oosterzele)

A friend of Kelly (44), the East Flemish mother who died in an accident in the popular Thai coastal city of Pattaya, has set up an online support action to help the family from Balegem (Oosterzele). Kelly’s daughter (11) is still fighting for her life.
The accident happened when crossing a street in Pattaya. The father and one of the daughters were at the forefront, after the mom and her youngest daughter still entered a exchange office. A few moments later the drama took place. Mother and daughter were knocked over by a motorcyclist.
The mother did not survive the blow. The seriously injured girl already underwent an urgent operation in a hospital in Thailand and is now being held in an artificial coma. She is still in critical condition in the intensive care department. The father (52) and the other daughter remained unharmed and watched at her bed. A friend of the deceased Mama has since started an online support campaign for the family.
« Her partner and their other daughter stay in a desperate way in Thailand. They are now forced to leave their hotel, which is fully booked. They are looking for a different accommodation. They will have to stay in Thailand for weeks, awaiting the recovery of their daughter, » the girlfriend said.
Inhuman situation
The medical costs, the stay, and the repatriation of both Kelly and her family entail enormous financial costs. « That is why we want to help where we can. With this support campaign we hope to raise money, so that her family does not have to worry about money in this inhuman situation, and can fully focus on recovery, mourning and each other. Every contribution, large or small, makes a difference. »

The daughter goes to school in Scheldewindeke, where the students of the fifth grade will hold a joint moment next Tuesday in the polyvalent room. The school will offer them time to ask questions and find comfort. « Parents who wish for this can go together in the dining room of our school on Tuesday. In the entrance hall of our school, a silence corner is provided, where everyone can go. We hope for positive news for C., but in the meantime consider the loss of her mom, » says director.
