German police union: « Wish us closer cooperation with Luxembourg »

For the chairman of the federal police/customs area in the police union (GdP), the western neighbors are generally not a worry factor in times of the increased border controls prescribed by Berlin. « We wished, » says Roßkopf on Tuesday in conversation with the « Luxembourg word » very subtle, « an even closer cooperation. »

And even that comes at the end of his answer to the question of how he perceives the situation at the German-Luxemburg border. First of all, Roßkopf says that the federal police are very aware of the special “problem”. It is known that Luxembourg is just as dependent on the leveling of German workers – especially in the area of ​​medicine and care – as well as Germany, for example, on personnel from the Czech Republic and Poland.

Therefore, « the colleagues are specifically instructed to pass the traffic much faster ». And only then Roßkopf prices the collaboration with the eastern neighbors. And adds, « also here » in the west there are « cooperations that are still expandable ».

High effort, supposedly low yield

Anyone who has heard Roßkopf until then knows that this is a wish; At most, blame. Because what the union boss previously said about the controls as a whole, about Germany’s new Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU), who invented it, and also about the highest federal police officer, President Dieter Romann: It sounded different. And when he then sees the figures of the Federal Office for Migration, he knew: « There are a lot to come across the limits that we do not find at all. »

Roßkopf: Checks are « pavement on the wound »
