« The starting point for this sharpened monitoring is based on threats received during exchanges between persons active in organized crime, » explains Georges-Louis Bouchez to Dh. « I am monitored by patrols and my driver has received certain instructions: where he has to drop me off, how he should respond in the event of an evacuation … I also have a contact person that I can contact if an abnormal situation is noticed. »

It is not the first time that the MR chairman has received increased surveillance. This was the case, among other things, during a lecture on the ULB campus last year, but also during the last trade union demonstration in Brussels. “There were already tense situations, but we reach a new level here. OCAD thought it was necessary to guarantee my safety, given the information they had. I am not paranoid and I don't like being constantly surrounded by security agents and police officers, « he explains.

“But I don't want to resist the recommended measures. For the simple reason that, if I refigure them and their work, I risk the services responsible for this protection to bring into trouble if an incident occurs. The only rule that I refuse to follow as often as possible is to enter through the back door. We live in a democracy and I don't want to hide, « he says. “I am not very scared and these threats will not make me change my mind. I refuse to admit intimidation. «
