George Simion wants to reduce the number of civil servants by 500,000
Romanian presidential candidate Nationalist Party for Romanian Alliance, George Simion, wants to reduce the number of civil servants by 500,000 if he won the May 18 elections. « This is a radical plan, » he said in an interview with Digi24, but hastened to add that this will happen gradually over the next five years.
« The situation is dramatic and it will be very difficult to avoid bankruptcy. And now I prefer everyone to understand that I have no bad intentions, that there will be some unpleasant measures. We are not talking about teachers, we have a deficit of firefighters, police officers. Hill, « Simion said.

As for his promise of 35,000 euros housing, embedded in the package of measures that the Aur leader presented himself to the November 2024 presidential election electorate, he now admitted that it was simply a campaign strategy.
« There are people who did not understand what it was about and knew that I did not offer them a home. It was about accessible housing, about social housing, part of a government program. And it was our form of marketing, promotion and media coverage. If we did not have these forms of vowel in these years, we would not have been explained.
However, he added that his plans could become a reality, arguing that the state could offer housing for 35,000 euros if he provides entrepreneurs with free land and access to infrastructure and utilities.
« If I win the election and become a president, I will nominate Kalin George for Prime Minister, » said George Simion. He states that he is convinced that he will find a majority in parliament to form the future government, but does not rule out the possibility of early elections.
In the meantime, his opponent for the place in Kotroschen – the independent candidate and current mayor of Bucharest Nikushor Dan, described as « nonsense » Simon’s desire to shorten 500,000 government officials. According to him, this is impossible to happen.
The chairman of the National Trade Union Block, Digi Kostin, quoted by Digi24, came out with a reaction. The union leader said such a plan was « off » and warned that key sectors such as education, healthcare and police were already suffering from chronic staff shortage.
« I make a public recommendation to Mr. Simion: He must be very careful with those who surround him and who provide information that he disseminates in public space, » added Dumitru Kostin.
The block is organizing today at 4:00 pm in Parliament Congress of the Trade Union Organization, which are invited by both presidential candidates for Romania.
