Gaurina goes against Bulj: ‘Sinj led to traffic chaos. Was better while he was in opposition ‘
She has been a well -known handball player for years, and for the Italian club Salerna has won the title of Italy champion. Today, Marija Gaurina goes to Mira Bulj in the mayor of Sinj. Behind her is the independent list of Dr. Stipislav Jadrijevic, and that would not have been the first time that list would win Sinj. Namely, in 2009 and 2013, NL, Dr. Stipislav Jadrijevic, won and the mayor became Ivica Glavan, and in 2017 their candidate Kristina Križanac won again in Sinj.
Why did you decide to get into politics?
Sport has taught me the values I still carry with me today, discipline, teamwork and fighting. Through my educational work and projects in which I participated, I saw the potential of Sinj, but also how this potential is not used enough. That is why I decided to act through politics because I want to be part of concrete solutions for problems that plague our fellow citizens.
Why should the citizens of Sinj choose you?
I do not offer empty promises, but a concrete approach guided by responsibility and knowledge. As a professor, mentor and mother, I understand the needs of our community. I know how important it is to invest in education, the development of infrastructure and family safety. I offer clear leadership, open communication and willingness to cooperate with citizens. I believe that it is time for Sinj to become a city that retains young people, encourages the economy and supports every citizen.
What will you base the campaign on?
We called our program « 4 points in 4 years », and the campaign is based on them. The first point and our primary focus are young, then older citizens, then education as an investment in the future and communal infrastructure. We will not promise what is not in our jurisdiction, but focus on real needs. We will work on more accessible housing and better traffic connection, as well as on sustainable development and strengthening the STEM sector. We want to create a way to a man’s measure – for life, not just for survival.
How about Mire Bulj’s mandate?
Mr Bulj managed to cope with the opposition, where he had the opportunity to warn of omissions and articulate dissatisfaction. In the mandate of the mayor, although there were shifts in the field of social welfare and scholarship, the development of key segments for the long -term progress of the city was absent. It has not sufficiently focused on the development of traffic infrastructure, preparation of projects for EU funds and creating conditions for the growth of the local economy, which has led to traffic congestion and weaker economic activities.
Sinj is a knightly city. Alka is a symbol of the city. Do you think the city used it enough to brand?
Sinj has a unique tradition that needs to be more strongly used to brand and economic development. Alka, but also the Great Lady, Basilica and Strong Religious Tourism, are the basis of the identity of our city. It is necessary to connect the tradition and contemporary approach to marketing to make Sinj more visible and more attractive, not only as a one -day destination, but as a cultural and spiritual center of Dalmatia. It is time to translate this potential to the sustainable development of tourism and our local community, that all our people benefit, but also to provide young people with new opportunities for employment and stay, that is, return to our city.
