Gashi: Transparency is the foundation of trust, and trust is the foundation of a strong, respected and dignified congregation
Everyone comes to a certain function with their own purpose and vision, and for me this event is important because through it I see how part of my vision of a transparent, open and responsible assembly in front of the citizens, Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi said in an address at the conference « Transforming the Future: Digital Strategy ».
He noted that it is no coincidence that the digitization of the Assembly is one of the key priorities of his mandate, because he believes that only through transparency and efficiency can the confidence of the citizens in this institution be strengthened.
-This is a turning point for the Assembly, because by presenting these platforms, the common and serious commitment to restore the institution’s dignity is reflected. Over the past year, I have repeatedly emphasized that transparency is the key to the fight against corruption and in building a respected assembly. These initiatives create an opportunity for all citizens, lawmakers and administration to have easier, faster and more efficient access to essential information – said Gashi.
According to him, these digital platforms – « Web platform for contact offices » and « Digital Bridge » – are innovative tools, ie software solutions aimed at strengthening the link between the Parliament and the citizens.
In the era of technological revolution, as Gashi pointed out, the use of artificial intelligence and the creation of digital assistants that help process and distribute information from plenary sessions is not only a relevant solution, but also significant facilitation for citizens, media, administration and researchers.
-On the other hand, the electronic platform for contact offices with citizens not only facilitates the communication and access of the citizens to the MPs, but also provides a precise statistical picture of the work and engagement of the MPs and parliamentary groups. The virtual space is also called « address », so with this platform, every citizen has its own address – regardless of its location and the challenges of physical contact with MPs – said Gashi.
These projects, as he pointed out, are a concrete example of how technology can be put in the service of transparency, efficiency and responsibility.
And that is why I am proud of the realization of these platforms, which have a colossal significance, Gashi said, adding that he is using this opportunity to sincerely thank the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Center for Change Management (CUP) – for fruitful and creative cooperation within this project. Thanks to the excellent experts from Symfonica and Brainster, who are authors of this extraordinary work, as well as the Swiss Embassy, for their unreserved support in the construction of a modern assembly.
-However, I only see this as a beginning. In the capacity of President of the Assembly, I assure you that this Assembly will become more transparent, more accessible and responsible. Although this is my first year of office, my commitment is complete and sincere – to create a congregation that will truly be a home for all citizens. Therefore, let these two platforms be the first step towards one stronger and more trusted assembly – said Gashi.
At the end of his address, Gashi pointed out that transparency is the foundation of confidence, and trust is the foundation of a strong, respected and dignified congregation. Therefore, as he added, « Transparency is our vision, and the digital transformation is our mission for that vision to become a reality. »
