Direct language Galushchenko: « We have a common interest with the United States to bring the Zaporozhye NPP under control of Ukraine and start the activities of this nuclear power station.

It can bring new opportunities to cooperate between us, for example, when it comes to electricity exports.

In addition, we will need more electricity for any project that can be implemented in Ukraine, together with the United States. We need more electricity to restore the country, and this is very important. «

Details: The minister separately stressed that it is absolutely unacceptable to leave the situation around the Zaporozhye NPP in the state in which it is now.

Direct language Galushchenko: « If we allow the Russians to leave the Zaporizhzhya NPP under control, even without renewing its work, it will be a continuous disaster for everything that the world has achieved in the development of a peaceful atom.

Now we are talking about a certain Renaissance of the nuclear industry, but no one will be able to afford to invest in nuclear energy if one country can force to capture and occupy the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and maintain control over it, even when the war ends …

We must show that any atomic object is unlawfully captured by force-large or small. «

Details: In the course of the discussion, Galushchenko noted that special concern for nuclear security creates massive Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.

This also applies to the current Zaporizhzhya NPP and three more stations that continue their work in Ukraine.

Since August last year, more than 150 incidents have been recorded when Russian missiles or drones have been flying over or near these stations.

Direct language Galushchenko: « Russians deliberately attack substations that are of critical importance, which causes extraordinary disconnection of the nuclear units that are in operation.

This is the message we are constantly spreading in the projects of the IAEA resolutions, and we ask them to visit these substations.

Because when we have an emergency shutdown of the operating block, there is only one step towards the Fukushima Scenario, only one step to the nuclear incident.

Such actions are completely contrary to any standards of nuclear safety. «

Recall: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation statedthat the aggressor state « does not consider it possible » to transfer the Ukrainian Zaporizhzhya NPP or control over it of Ukraine or any other country.

Prehistory:

  • Donald Trump Presidential Administration It seeks new conditions for US access to critically important minerals and energy assets in Ukraine, expanding its economic requirements for Kiev as part of the promotion of a peace agreement with Russia.
  • US Energy Minister Chris Wright declaredthat the US may take over the management of a nuclear power plant in Ukraine « without much problems » if a corresponding political decision is made.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy notedthat the ownership of the Zaporozhye NPPs was not discussed from the United States, but without the control of Ukraine it will not work.
  • The Russians have occupied the NPP on March 4, 2022, since then the invaders have periodically fired at a nuclear catastrophe. They also brought their staff there.
