Galichnik songs distracted by oblivion

Enough of Karagjozovsky retirement days have dedicated them to preserving folk art

Delivered (enough) Karagjozovska, born in Galichnik, loves her birthplace with immense love, and spent more than half a century of free time in the beautiful and unique nature where she made the first steps. She says she is resting best there, recharging the batteries and enjoying the unique ambience and clean mountain air. Earlier half of the summer vacation was spent in Galichnik, and as a retiree is almost constantly in this wonderful ending, she rejoices the revitalization, which in the mid -20th century, due to the negligence of the state, found himself on the abyss of « cracking » in the venues, to disappear, and to exist.
It is not enough, the gift of the Lord is maximally used to preserve folk art, the song, the folk costume with valuable applications. Lately, the field of interest has been enriching her collection of songs that are almost completely missing, and sung on different occasions a few centuries ago in Galichnik.

We started talking to her with a request to explain to us what was a challenge to devote to this difficult but noble mission, searching for the songs that are slowly disappearing.
– This question looks more like a provocation, but no matter what, I have recently written songs, most of which are joking, some may be sung with changed content or not as original in Galichnik. This type of songs are tied to a number of events, for example the song of the engagement of Strategoski, somewhere around 1909-1911:
« Filipovci gathered
Dal is the time to abide
Will grab the Topan Ruza
Topan Ruza Chaparoska ”
Or an event tied to a sudden or unauthorized visit to a group of bachelors in the Home of the Sisters Preleoski, when the parents were not at home:
“The bachelors gathered,
Under the houses Prleeski
At Cesmiche Avramiche … « 
But for this project I still have no complete conception, health… If not me, maybe the project will be realized by my grandchildren – to fulfill it as an amend, who are also in love with Galichnik and are constant participants at the Galichnik Wedding.

You have great love to collect folk costumes, male, feminine, children, which are worn on various occasions, from all over Macedonia, as well as costumes, most of Galichnik and Miyachia.
– I have been collecting folk costumes from all ethnic areas of Macedonia and all ethnic communities. I started with the Galichnik costumes, but they are not the most numerous in my collection, most of the Skopje Blatija and Skopje Montenegro, for which I prepare the second catalog, which I will promote by the end of the year.

How many pieces of folk costumes does the collection have?
– My collection contains over 200 Macedonian costumes and costumes from ethnic communities living in Macedonia.

How do you keep them and where you present them?
– Maintenance is the hardest thing, but it's still my hobby. So I say, when you have a love for what you do, it makes you happy and satisfied, everything is easily achieved. As for their presentation, I do so rarely because everything is now related to hiring extra money for promotion, and as an individual I cannot afford to afford the costs of promotion as an individual. Now, if I am left with my monthly income and my husband, I will use them for a new piece that misses me or I can't resist. For promotion I will wait for conditions to be created.

A few years ago, along with the sisters, you gathered and in the original you sang eight ritual wedding songs you removed from oblivion.
– In addition to my love of folk costumes, somehow in parallel, the desire, which has long been faded, has opened the ritual wedding songs singing at Galichnik weddings. This desire is a consequence of my origin, my roots, which I proudly say they are from Galichnik. I am the first child of my parents Ljubica and Tomo Karagjozoski, who are also from Galichnik. Even as a child I listened to and studied these songs, which were always fulfilled at Galichnik weddings, from the distant 1962/1963 of the last century until 1990, when they stopped singing because there were no singers to sing. Encouraged by the support of the two sisters Sofka and Svetlana, who sing in the original version, I decided to get them out of forgetfulness. With the help of my dear friend Robert Angelovski, a professor at the Skopje Music School in Skopje, we recorded eight songs on CD, which we baptized « Amen from our » and, for my great surprise, was very well accepted. For this species – a chapel – singing, with concrete content and for a specific purpose, there is great interest. Last year we participated in the 50th edition of « Pece Fest » in Dolneni, Prilep, and we won the Grand Prix.

We find out that you are now preparing another sound carrier with eight ritual wedding songs singing at the Galichnik wedding.
– Yes, it's true. We are planning to record another sound carrier, precisely with ritual wedding songs, but this time it all depends on the financial conditions. I believe that we will be able to provide enough funds to realize this project and get them away from forgetting songs that marked a long period of Galichnik wedding, when they were regularly sung. I believe they will also be interesting for younger generations.
