Further sharp criticism of plans to distribute aircraft noise

There is still sharp criticism of the redistribution of airport planned by the operator of the Frankfurt Airport. In a statement by the Commission on the defense of aircraft noise, in which the neighboring municipalities are represented, there is talk of a serious breach of trust. The Aircraft Noise Commission (FLK) asked the state of Hesse to immediately check whether the new operating concept was still compatible with the planning approval decision.

The FLK chairman Paul-Gerhard Weiß spoke of a profound break with the premises on which the expansion of the airport was legally and politically. At that time, it was agreed to avoid a double burden on the most affected municipalities. Now this should be abandoned unilaterally without involving those affected.

The credibility of airport policy is at stake: « If not only applies to today, this not only undermines trust in the institutions, but also in the entire legal procedure, » said Weiß, the city council of Offenbach.

Changes in departures

The operating company Fraport and the German Air Trailer (DFS) announced on Wednesday that they would develop a new operating concept for the largest German airport. The changes affect departure at flight operations in the West company direction, which is flown to about 70 percent of all days in Frankfurt. The background is the increasing number of flight movements that are expected by 2033.

Weiß said that the municipalities, such as Flörsheim, who were already heavily affected in western farms, should be relieved as compensation for departures, according to the original agreements. It was highly questionable whether the new requirements for the new runway opened in 2011 would be the same and the airport expansion would have been approved at all.

White criticized the concept behind closed doors. It only became apparent at the urging of the city of Hochheim, which was also very affected.

Municipalities « surprise and disappointed »

« We feel surprised and deceived, » Manfred Ockel is quoted, deputy FLK chairman and mayor of Kelsterbach: « For years, the DFS has put into work for us with work on solutions-at the same time, an increase in the stress under the northwest excursions was worked on in the background. Criticism also came from the Mainz environmental director and deputy FLK chairman Janina Steinkrüger. The trust between the commission, airport operator and DFS is badly damaged, she explained.
