Funeral Francis: Who officially broke the strict dress code
The first faithful had begun to flock early in the morning on St. Peter’s Square, where the funeralin order to say goodbye to Pope Francis.
Then, in draconian security measures, the official guests and the heads of state began to arrive in the Vatican.
Strict clothing code
The costume code requires men to wear a dark suit with a black tie and a button of the same color on the left lapel of the jacket, where only the Vatican decorations can be placed, and are allowed to wear white shirts.
On the other hand, women are invited to wear black long dresses, gloves and veil. The only jewelry they are allowed to wear is a pearl necklace.
And while some guests, such as the former and current US first ladies and the blue -eyed officials, followed (almost) faithfully the dresscode to the veil, some chose to deviate from the rules, with the classic example of Volodimir Zelenski (who has been in the von der Lien and Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, who chose to wear pants.
