Full of success for quiz evening in Differdingen
What does Arbed mean? What does CPAP stand for? Which community is the largest in Luxembourg in terms of space? Who was US President in front of Obama? Anyone who can answer these questions from the rifle would have been the right place on Tuesday evening in the « Hall O » in Differdingen.
Around 200 quiz enthusiasts came together on June 4, 2025 to demonstrate their knowledge – but above all to spend a sociable and happy evening together. The event was organized by Mediahuis Luxembourg, in cooperation with the municipality of Differdingen. There were 33 teams that went on an entertaining journey through a wide variety of knowledge of knowledge-from Luxembourg-specific questions to world politics and sport to stars and asterisks, cinema, history and culinary skills.
An evening that connects people
Even when entering the pavilion, the atmosphere was noticeably relaxed and warm. The hall was lovingly prepared, water bottles were ready on the tables, and the announcements were kept multilingual – entirely in the spirit of inclusion and openness.
Klott, the well -known quiz master, led charmingly and with a good pinch of humor through the evening. With a clear set of rules-no smartphones, quiet discussions within the teams and three main rounds with a 20-minute break each-he ensured a liquid process. During the breaks, the catering partner Alliance Saveurs & Santé served a colorful mix of cold, warm and sweet snacks, which not only convinced culinary delights, but also offered the opportunity to make new contacts or to meet old acquaintances.
From chicken nuggets to Shakespeare
In total, the teams had to fight through around 60 questions, some of which were harmless, sometimes quite tricky. For example, it was about René Arend, the Luxemburger Koch, who created the famous chicken McNuggets. Or the London theater « The Globe », which is inextricably linked to William Shakespeare. But even local things were not neglected-for example, with the question of which community in Luxembourg is the largest (Wintger, for everyone who wants to look up) or how the Luxembourg Festival « Blues Express » 2024 celebrated its 20th anniversary.
Other questions tested the knowledge of the best -selling car models in Luxembourg, well -known brand logos, European politics, film classics or current sporting events – such as the Super Bowl 2025, which was obtained by the Philadelphia Eagle.
Bonus rounds with small gifts rewarded speed and spontaneity.
The winners: « Quiz Mat Gaardebounten »
At the end of the evening it was the team « Quiz Mat Gaardebounen » that could prevail. Six participants from Differdingen and the surrounding area – all confessing quiz fans who regularly attend such events – were able to answer around two thirds of the questions correctly. Your mix of knowledge, team spirit and a large portion of fun paid off. They accepted the awarded price with a wink: « We just wanted to have fun – and now! » Said a team member after the award ceremony.
The team of municipal representatives and lay judges also ended up in the middle – and proved that politics and good mood go together.
The evening was not only a successful proof of the cooperation between the media, community and citizens, but also a plea in playing knowledge in a playful and community manner. With over 200 applications received and the high demand, one thing is clear: this format has a future.
