Fruit imports marks the fourth highest value in 20 years

Fruit import in Albania has taken on an important role in providing domestic market throughout the year. Due to the short season of domestic production and the growing demand for various fruits, Albania imports mainly citrus fruits and tropical fruits from countries like Italy, Greece and Spain. This import helps meet customer needs and stabilizes prices, but also challenges local production to increase quality and competition in the market.

According to the latest data from INSTAT on foreign trade we see that the value of fruit imports for April of this year is estimated at ALL 861 million. This value has affected the fourth highest record of imports since January 2005.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, if we analyze weight imports, ie in volume, we find that the value is recorded at about 10 million kilograms.

« Scan Intel » has made a short calculation to see how much fruit imports are worth per kilo during the fourth month of the year.

According to figures, in April, one kilo of import fruit cost about 80 leks in average. The value is more or less the same in the first four months of the year. However, if we compare it with the last month of last year it seems that we bought a kilo of fruit more expensive.
