From tomorrow Albania without Tiki!
From tomorrow in Albania there is no more ticking for 12 months.
Following the government's decision to close the application for a period of one year, the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP) has formally requested the closure of TIKTOK in Albania.
In an e-mail sent to all ISP (Internet service providers), AKEP has requested to block access to TIKTOK by March 13.
AKEP announcement:
National Authority for Cyber Security (Aksk) with letter no. 1196 prot., Dated 10.03.2025 (Administered in AKEP with 359/2 prot., Dated 10.03.2025), has requested the taking of the necessary measures to block access to the TIK app and its digital infrastructure in Albanian territory, taking the following actions:
Blocking TIKTOK's IPs in the territory of Albania.
DNS blocking of TIKTOK in the territory of Albania.
Tiktok's SNI (Server Name Indications) in the territory of Albania.
Blocking the IPs of the Bytedance Company in the territory of Albania.
The Aksk letter quotes the legal basis (Council of Ministers Decision No. 151 dated 6.3.2025) and the list of all IPs and domains, which require blockage of access.
Based on letter ç), point 2 of Article 30 of Law no. 54/2024 “On Electronic Communications in the Republic of Albania” and letter e), paragraph 1, Article 9, and point 9 of Annex e, of AKEP Regulation no. 47 dated 26.10.2017 “On the implementation of the general authorization regime”, any operator/entrepreneur providing electronic communications services/networks according to the general authorization regime, shall respect the restrictions of transmissions set by illegal or harmful content by Aksk.
For the above, we follow the letter of Aksk.
Also, each entrepreneur (ISP) must submit a written confirmation to AKEP and to know Aksk, for the closure of the IP access and domains cited in the Aksk letter, by March 13, 2025.
