From the end of the paper service check to a Brussels ban on the installation of fuel oil boilers: this will change on 1 June

Paper service check disappears

The paper service check will definitely disappear from 1 June. The checks will then only be ordered digitally. Publisher Pluxee and the Flemish Department of Work and Social Economics announced this at the end of last year.

The previous Flemish government decided in 2023 that the paper service check would disappear from 2025. On 1 June the time has come. Already purchased paper service checks can still be used up to a year after the purchase date.

Users of paper service checks will receive a letter explaining how they can order and use electronic service checks. For users who are less digitally skilled, different help lines are offered, such as help via e -mail or a telephone number with a voting computer on which people can check their balance and other data.

« But the simplest thing is that a person they know and trust helps them, » says Pluxee. A family member or knowledge can then purchase service checks for them via an adventure system. Currently, 9 percent of the pluxe customers still use paper checks, 91 percent prefer digitally.

On This webpage find users more explanation. The electronic service checks can be ordered via the transfer, via the mobile app, via the website or via the mobile bank app of Belfius, KBC or BNP Paribas Fortis.

Service checks that are purchased from 1 June will be reimbursed automatically if they expire. For paper and digital service checks that were previously purchased, users must request a refund for the expiry date.

The new system offers benefits for household help, because it no longer has to fill in a paper check and there is no longer any risk of losing it. The fact that the government can now coordinate subsidies on the date of performance instead of the purchase date of the check is good news for service check companies. Due to the many indexations in recent years, the previous system was financially disadvantageous for them.

Adapted baby food for cow’s protein allergy partly repaid

Custom diet for babies with a cow’s protein allergy will be repaid for half of 1 June. Federal Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke (Vooruit) announced at the beginning of May. To be entitled to a reimbursement, a doctor must first make a diagnosis.

About 4,800 children are born every year with a cow’s protein allergy. It is one of the most common food allergies in babies younger than 3 years. To be clear: it is something other than lactose intolerance. In most cases, the condition is temporary in nature. But to get through in the first years without difficult symptoms, the right cow -free -free food is crucial.

According to Minister Vandenbroucke, 70 percent of babies can easily be treated with a thorough protein hydrolysate, food that is easier to digest. Half of that will now be repaid. This concerns the pots of 400 grams that may cost a maximum of 24 euros, otherwise they will not be reimbursed. With reimbursement, it therefore costs a maximum of 12 euros, a price that better matches most standard infant food.

If that type of food would not suffice, which is the case with about 30 percent of the infants, there are also amino acid preparations. They are already partially reimbursed.

A doctor must prove the diagnosis to be entitled to the reimbursement. That doctor must also regularly follow the baby to see if adapted food is still needed. Milk species based on an alternative protein source, such as rice, soy or goat milk, do not count as an adapted diet.

Installation of fuel oil heating boilers forbidden in Brussels Region

From 1 June the installation of oil -fired heating boilers is prohibited in the Brussels Region. The prohibition also applies to the replacement of existing boilers, unless an exception is permitted.

The measure applies to both homes and co-ownerships and businesses. Currently, 5 to 7 percent of the boilers in the capital work on fuel oil and they are aging. The average age of the heating boilers on fuel oil is more than 25 years, and this type of heating has a major impact on the environment due to the considerable emissions of CO₂ and particulate matter.

A deviation can be requested if it is not technically possible to install a different type of heating in the building and if the alternatives have been investigated. Existing heating boilers may continue to be used.
