From now on, Flemish healthcare staff will receive a end -of -year bonus every year: « This shows our permanent appreciation »

From now on, staff in the Flemish healthcare institutions will be able to count on an additional allowance for the end -of -year bonus every year, by analogy with the staff in the federal healthcare institutions. The Flemish Minister for Welfare Caroline Gennez (Vooruit) announced this on Monday.
In 2022, in the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis, a one-off surcharge on the end-of-year bonus was granted to healthcare staff in the Flemish healthcare institutions. In contrast to the federal government, the previous Flemish government did not chose to grant it structurally, so that extra resources had to be sought every year.
Last year all staff members in the Flemish healthcare institutions – more than 45,000 full -time equivalents, good for around 70,000 people – received a surcharge of 465 euros gross on top of the regular end -of -year bonus.

Minister Gennez now makes the end -of -year bonus permanent. « Since the COVID crisis, the pressure in healthcare has remained high. We have to continue the appreciation they received, » said the minister.
