The Christian trade unions CNE and ACV Puls announced a strike on Sunday with Ryanair staff at Charleroi airport. It is specifically about flights to conflict areas. The strike will start on Monday, but it is unclear how long it will last. That writes Sudinfo.

The decision to stop striking would follow on the failure of the negotiations with the low -cost company to set up a voluntary system for the flights to conflict areas. « All European airlines have such a voluntary system, except Ryanair, that remains inflexible, » notes Didier Lebbe, permanent secretary of the CNE, at Sudinfo. « There is no question of a boycott of Israel, » he adds. « It’s just a matter of common sense. You have to understand that some staff do not want to go to conflict areas and that their families are also worried. »

Ryanair, for example, flies to Amman in Jordan and Tel Aviv in Israel. « To get to Amman, aircraft used to fly over Egypt to avoid Israel. But now pilots, by fuel saving, are obliged to fly over Israel. We all still know what happened to Malaysian Airlines above Ukraine, even before that country was considered a war zone, » adds the trade unionist.

That is why the staff who refuses to execute flights to war zones will fall under the right to strike from Monday, warn the trade unions.
