From June 1, in Estonia, mobile speed measurements will begin to catch speed violators in both directions
In order to take control of the speed of speed by both drivers and motorcyclists, from June 1, the police will set up speed measurements so that they can monitor the movement of the vehicle in both directions, BNS reports.
The Center for Road Supervision substantiates this by the fact that there are still motorcyclists that accelerate before the cameras, realizing that measuring equipment cannot identify either themselves or their motorcycles.
This spring, the camera recorded more than 400 velocity disorders by motorcyclists, and, in comparison with vehicles of velocity violations, motorcyclists were much larger.
At the same time, last year there were 119 accidents with injured motorcyclists and nine with the dead. Most accidents are an accident with the participation of one vehicle, the reason for which is a reassessment of driver’s skills and the mismatch of speed by road conditions.
“Of all accidents involving motorcycles, a motorcyclist is to blame in almost 80 % of cases,” the traffic center noted.
To change the behavior of motorcyclists on the road, the police will install cameras that measure the speed of the vehicle in both directions.
