From grandfather’s prophecy to European Champion title

« When I was born, my mother gave the first visitors to write a wish. Mom’s dad, my grandfather, wrote that I was mobile, with such movements. He wrote that it was a real golden fish. These words mean a lot to me – I even have a tattoo. I am.

« Smiltė is a great athlete. The eighteen -year -old is already having some challenges: with science, preparation, coordination, training mode, and recreation and friends.

S. Plytnykaitė and her coach are special – as the swimmer herself says, this is rare.

« I am with one coach from an early age, from the age of four. This is very rare because many change the coaches during my swimming career, and I stay with one, and it is really great.

The coach admitted that S. Plytnykaitė is the first athlete of his tall caliber. And there are quite a few achievements in her career.

« Probably the Gold Medals of the European Olympic Youth Festival, the European Youth Championship gold medals – it’s already a high -level competition. It is fun here. Obviously, we always remember when they first reached age groups Lithuanian records, first adult Lithuanian record, » said the coach.

S. Plytnykaitė also admitted to her feelings about increasing competition.

« There is a growing number of competition in Lithuania – it is a lot of fun. Even such fear occurs as a young people of Europe, because competition is really increasing. It is fun that even during Lithuanian championships, competition is coming, » the swimmer admitted.

The young swimmer is training a lot as she wants to get to the semi -finals of the most serious tournaments, where only talent and success are no longer enough. S. Plytnykaite has to move before classes and travel to the pool at five in the morning. Land and swimming training is also waiting after school.
