“From Garden to Sofraya Project” was implemented at Famagusta Special Education and Business Education School.
Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Tourism, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department students, EMU Social Sensitivity Center (TDM) President Asst. Assoc. Dr. The project, which came to life under the coordination of Nazen Ruso Kandemir, aimed to bring together students with special needs to nature.
According to the information given from EMU, the project aims to draw attention to the importance of organic agriculture as well as contributing to the development of handicrafts through agricultural activities and kitchen activities and the importance of organic agriculture, while the area was cleaned in the garden of the Famagusta Special Education School.
Within the scope of the project, EMU students and individuals with special needs, carrots, radishes, mint, thyme, parsley, spinach, fresh onions, cress, lettuce, lettuce and cabbage planted. During the project, the cooperation with Emiri Evcimen, Teachers and School Officer of Famagusta Special Education School, and Altınoğlu Agriculture contributed to the project by providing seed and seedling support.
In the final event, breakfast was prepared with the students with special needs under the guidance of Erkan Kaya, Fikri Varoğlu, İrem Demiralp, Yağmur Dinçsay and Hülya Ardağlı. The participants experienced a pleasant breakfast experience by experiencing the happiness of revealing a product with their own efforts.
Project Coordinator and President of TDM Asst. Assoc. Dr. Nazenin Ruso Kandemir emphasized that organic agriculture is not only a sustainable production form, but also a source of healing and educational process for individuals.
