On the first day of the large exchange of prisoners in « 1000 per 1000 » format from Russian captivity released a defender, whose daughter was taken out of occupation only two months ago.

The Ukrainian defender was captured more than three years ago – at the beginning of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation in 2022. At the same time, his daughter took his mother to Russia. Later, the woman with the child returned to the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
She asked her grandmother who raised the girl from her birth to achieve the return of the girl Sofia to the Commissioner.
« All this time the child lived in unbearable conditions. The struggle for return was difficult and prolonged, » – they say in the Ombudsman.
The woman managed to apply for care over a 15-year-old girl, and in March 2025 Sofia managed to return to Ukraine-controlled territory.
On the first day of the great exchange of captives from captivity, the girl’s father returned. The man managed to hear the voices of her mother and daughter for the first time in a long time.
« It is one of the many stories of families torn by war. But it is such moments that add strength to believe and fight further.
We work for this. For every child, every adult can return to free Ukraine. And again to be together, « Dmitry Lubinets said.
