From airplanes to virtual currencies: What does the STI sell?

Why the STI sells an airplane and what else to sell was told by STI Chancellor Dainius Jasiulis.

– Why does the STI no longer need an airplane, or who was flying it?

– Whoever flew it, I can’t reveal it, and why I no longer need it – because the STI is engaged in the realization of the property transferred to the state. We do not engage in confiscation ourselves – the decision on confiscation of property is made by courts or seizure is executed at the direction of the prosecutor’s office. We are engaged in realization, and in this case the product – the plane – is hopefully to be disposed of by tender.

– Why was the plane in the hands of the STI and what is the plane? How often do you have to sell planes?

– He was due to allegedly illegal activities – a pre -trial investigation was launched, and as material evidence was transferred to our institution to ensure realization.

– What if you don’t want to buy? What then? Maybe you will use it yourself?

– I do not think that the STI would be adapted. Another thing is that it is prohibited by law, because we have no right to transfer either other institutions or humanitarian aid to Ukraine, which we have been providing for the first year. In this case, repeated recession will be applied, and we will still realize these assets.

– The plane is an exclusive item you have to sell. What more do you get and what do you do with them?

– The foundation of the property that is transferred to us is the vehicle. The air vehicle is an exception. Mostly road vehicles, we have had water vehicles – ships, speedboats. Such exclusive assets could also include a virtual currency, the sale of which caused a lot of challenges. But we successfully handled them.

– And water vehicles – ships and boats, are they no longer at your disposal?

– They are transmitted for realization – we do not carry out such activities so that we can take our own use. We are an institution that ensures the realization of the property. I would like to emphasize that the funds sold are not left to the STI, as sometimes such reflections occur. All funds are transferred to the state budget.
