Large powers are obliged to act as stabilizing factors, says the Chinese Foreign Minister. He also draws a position to the latest ceasefire talks in Ukraine.

China and Russia are « forever friends, never enemies ». This was explained by the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in an interview on Tuesday at the beginning of a three -day visit to Moscow. « The principle ‘Friends forever, never enemies’ … serves as a solid legal basis to drive strategic cooperation on a higher level, » said Wang in an interview with the state Russian news agency Ria.

The current global conditions obliged the great powers to act as stabilizing factors, said Wang. Therefore, it is encouraging that Russia and the United States tried to improve relationships.

Ideas for a possible peace solution

The Russian Presidential Office declared on Monday that Russia and the United States were working on ideas for a possible peace solution in Ukraine and on the establishment of bilateral relationships. « This is good for the stabilization of the balance of power between the great powers and is optimistic in a disappointing international situation, » quoted the Ria Wang news agency. Wang therefore also rejected the claim that Trump attempts to support Russia to raise it against China. Wang described such ideas as « relapse into an outdated confrontation and block thinking », reports Ria.

The Chinese Foreign Minister also commented on the war in Ukraine. The recent ceasefire talks in Ukraine have already brought some results and should be continued despite different views and the difficult situation on the battlefield. « The step towards peace is not very big, but constructive – it is worth building it on it, » said Wang, according to the Ria news agency. « The following applies to peace: no price without hard work. You have to work hard to reach it. » He added that a peace agreement had to be binding and acceptable for all parties, and confirmed that Beijing was willing to play a role in setting up the conflict in Ukraine.

Wang is a three -day visit to Moscow to have discussions about the strategic cooperation between the two countries. The Russian Presidential Office announced on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin would be received. Wang will also have talks with his counterpart Sergei Lawrow. (APA/Reuters)
