The special guest of this event will be the world -famous French cellist Jean -Gijen Keiras (Jean-Guhen Queyras). The fertile cooperation between the orchestra and the French cellist has now been measured for several years. Witnesses are not only listeners in Latvia, but also in Germany. Current, multifaceted and unshakable focus on the music itself is characterized by the artistic activity of Jean -Gijen Keiras. The internal motivation of the composer, interpret and audience must be consistent with each other in order to be able to create a unique musical experience. Keiras has mastered the special, only characteristic of the musical interpretation of his own, to Pierre Boulez. This philosophy, alongside the perfect technique and clear, is also a binding tone, also forms Jean Guyen Keiras’s approach to every musical image and concert program.

Equally important in the arsenal of Keiras’s creative expression is both ancient and contemporary music. The French cellist regularly cooperates with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the Berlin Academy of Earth Music. At the same time, Keiras is a premiere of many compositions made today. His opuses have been entrusted to him by composers such as Ivan Fedele, Gilbert Amy, Bruno Mantovani, Michel Jarel, Johannes-Mary Stud, Thomas Larcher and Tristan Miray. Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the legendary Hungarian composer Peter Eve, Keiras premiered the author’s cellon.
Jean Gijen Keiras has performed with world -famous orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, London Symphony Orchestra, Leipzigas Gewandhaus Orchestra and Zurich Tonhalls Orchestra, in collaboration with directors such as Ivan Fisher, Philip Herevgie, Yannik, Ne-Segen, Francois Ksavier Rot, Sir John Eliot Gardiner and Seru Roger Norington. As a resident artist, Keiras has collaborated with Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Building Festival and Strasbourg Philharmonic.

An essential facet of Jean Guy Keiras’s musical activity is chamber music. He is one of Arcanto Quartet The founders, together with violinist Isabella Faust and pianist Alexander Melnikov, are staging the program for the piano trio.

Jean Gijen Keiras is a professor at Freiburg Music University and is an artistic director at the festival Rencontres Musicales de Haute-Provence Fortkier.
