Free herring, eggs and more: Net brings great Easter news

Easter is a time for coziness, presence and community – but for many vulnerable citizens a warm and festive Easter lunch is not an option. Netto will change that with the Food Bank.

Therefore, Netto has donated everything it takes to cover a classic Easter table – to the delight of 11 social organizations, all of which can invite up to 100 citizens inside for a nice Easter lunch.

It writes The Central ApS in one press release.

Volunteers create the framework for presence

It is everything from heating rooms and hostels to shelters and social residential areas that now have the opportunity to cover up a joint Easter lunch in a safe setting. The food is provided by the Food Bank’s volunteers, who year round ensures that fresh surplus food from, among other things, Netto’s stores reach the social organizations that serve free meals daily to people in difficult life situations.

« The holidays are difficult for many, which is why it makes great sense when Netto offers our recipient organizations the opportunity to gather their users for a good experience and a wonderful meal. It’s not just about the food-it’s about creating a while with community and dignity, » says Lea Gry von Cotta-Schønberg, director of Food Bank.

A collaboration with heart and attitude

Since 2016, Netto and Food Bank have been working to combat food waste and ensure that surplus food reaches out to those who need it most. In 2024, the Netto stores donated fresh surplus food equivalent to 55,000 meals.

« At Netto we are proud of our many years of cooperation with the Food Bank. Together we ensure that food waste is reduced and sent to the people in our society who need it most. Donating a complete Easter lunch is another good example of how we can combine our resources and create joy and community for vulnerable citizens, » says CEO Braw Bakir, Netto Denmark.
