Freddie Mercury had a secret daughter, according to new biography

Freddie Mercury secretly had a daughter according to a new biography of the Queen singer who will be released next September. Biographer Lesley-Ann Jones-who already wrote three biographies of Mercury- reveals The Daily Mail in Love, Freddie That Mercury accidentally blamed his daughter in 1976. He had an affair with the wife of a good friend. After birth, he maintained a close relationship with his daughter until he died in 1991 from the effects of AIDS.

Mercury had relationships with both men and women during his life. But only a few loved ones knew he had a daughter, Jones tells The Daily Mail. « Even members of Mercury’s personal household had no idea that he had a child. »

Just before his death, Mercury would have handed his daughter 17 personal diaries he started writing when he heard of pregnancy. In it he describes his entire life, from his youth in Zanzibar and India, through his wild party life, until his last months. The last diary dates from July 31, 1991, only months before Mercury’s death. His daughter would have now handed those diaries to Jones, who she used as a basis for the new biography.

Mercury’s daughter wants to remain anonymous. She would now be 48, live in Europe and work in healthcare. To protect her identity, she is only referred to as B. The book Love, Freddie However, contains several personal letters from B. She writes: ,, Freddie Mercury was and is my father. We had a very close and loving band from the moment I was born and during the last fifteen years of his life. He worshiped me and was dedicated to me. « 

Lesy-Ann Jones says to The Daily Mail That the daughter was an accident, conceived while his friend was on a business trip. The mother of B. was a Catholic, so abortion was « out of the question ». It was no secret in the family that Mercury was the father. He often came by, had his own room and spoke his daughter every day. Jones describes him as a dedicated, « hands-on » father.

Lies and speculation

The story cannot be verified for NRC – Other media and loved ones from Mercury have not yet confirmed the story. Jones – who previously wrote biographies about David Bowie, John Lennon and Paul McCartney – said initially to doubt the truthfulness of the revelations when she was approached by B. three years ago. But she was convinced by the diaries, bank statements, photos, personal tickets that B. handed over, she says to The Daily Mail. It contained new information that she could verify. ,, Now I am absolutely sure that she is not a fantastic. Nobody could have come up with all of this. Why would she have worked with me for three and a half years, without ever demanding anything? ”

The image of Mercury as a dedicated father is not in line with his reputation as a flamboyant party animal. That is also a part of the reason that B. is now emerging, according to another letter included in the biography. « After more than thirty years of lies, speculation and distortion, it is time to let Freddie speak. » She chose to tell her story to Jones because ,, her book (Love of My Lifefrom 2021) gave a more accurate picture of him than everything I had ever read. « 

In the British tabloids the manhunt on the identity of B. started. In another letter in the biography, however, the woman writes that he will not speak to a press. ,, I will not add anything to what I reveal in this book. (…) I owe it to my father to cherish my privacy as one of the most precious privileges in life. ”
