Frame contracts for 90 trams signed
PESA is to provide a total of 90 trams, including 30 two -way 33 m long, 30 single -way 43 m long and 30 one -way 33 m long. The priority for MPK is to order two -way vehicles. They are to run on the planned Line on Azory, which in the first stage is to be built without a loop.
– Recently, together with the Minister of Infrastructure, we informed about the conclusion of an agreement with the Center for EU Transport Projects, which guarantees PLN 128 million in funding from KPO to trams delivered in 2023. These funds will be allocated to the own contribution to the purchase of trams from Pesa. The signing of framework contracts is also a significant step to completely withdrawing from the movement of all trams without low floor and air conditioning – says the President of Krakow Aleksander Miszalski.
Twist 3.0 models, which have a modern and light, but very durable construction that ensures a high level of safety, will reach Krakow. There are no degrees in them, there is only a low floor along the entire length of the wagon. The drive has an energy recovery system, thanks to which trams are cheap to operate.
– For us it’s a symbolic moment. 10 years ago we delivered the first Krakowiaki, then the most modern and longest trams in Poland. Now Pesa returns to Krakow. Twista 3.0 are the most modern vehicles on the market, comfortable, ecological, energy -saving and quiet – says Krzysztof Zdziarski, president of the board of PESA Bydgoszcz SA.
Until now, PESA has delivered almost 1,000 trams to many European cities, including: Tallinn, Sofia, Kiev, Romanian Jaszy, Cluj and Craiova. It also supplies most Polish cities. The first twists 3.0 should reach Krakow in 2027.
– We are currently doing everything to find funds, which will allow us to sign the implementation agreement for the first new trams in the middle of this year. We have already submitted an application for funding for the purchase of 30 two -way wagons in the Feniks program. We also take many actions to get funds to finance the purchase of the remaining 60 new trams – emphasizes Rafał Świerczyński, president of the board of MPK in Krakow.
