As reported, the local elections in the Riga City Council gained the highest number of votes in « Latvia’s first place » (LPV), but the Progressive and NA party also achieved very close results, according to the Central Election Commission.

In the municipal elections in Riga, LPV received 18.17% of the vote, which gives 13 out of 60 mandates in the council. 16.62% of voters voted for « progressive », giving them 11 Member’s mandates, NA – 14.2% of voters, who give it 10 mandates, but the current Mayor of Riga, Vilnius Cherry, gained 12.9% of voters. As a result, JV will receive nine posts.

The list of « sovereign power » and the « Jaunlatvian » union has received 12.13% of the vote and will be eight mandates respectively. Two more political forces – the « stability » party, supported by 6.94% of voters, entered the council, and the « combined list », supported by 6.29% of voters, allowing five and four mandates respectively.

The initiative to form the new ruling coalition has been taken by « Progressive » in terms of NA, JV and AS. A total of 34 votes from 60 would have such a coalition.
