Four injured after heavy blow in Sint-Andries, fire brigade has to free two people from wreck (inland)

Sint-Andries

A heavy traffic accident occurred on the Expresweg in Sint-Andries last Saturday night. Two cars came in collision with each other and the blow was particularly fierce. A total of four people were transferred to the hospital, one of which is someone with serious injuries. « Nobody is in danger, » says Lien Klewais of the federal road police.

The traffic accident happened during the night from Saturday to Sunday on the Expresweg in Sint-Andries. Just before two in the morning, two cars suddenly came together. Both motorists immediately lost control of the steering wheel and the cars eventually came to a stop. The blow was particularly fierce: the road was littered with a lot of debris and two victims were trapped in their car.

The emergency services came to the scene for the first worries and to free the two victims from the Verkenskelde vehicles, because on their own that is not possible. The federal road police decided to close the Expresweg from the prison in Bruges to beyond the Refuge for all traffic. The tunnel was also temporarily not accessible to traffic. The traffic was able to continue the road via the parallel court – next to the cycle path – and drive further on on the Expresweg.
