Former Viktor Yanukovych Adviser Andriy Portnov, killed in the middle of a street in Madrid

Andriy Portov, who by 2014 was an adviser to former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, was shot dead in the middle of a street near the American school in Madrid.

The incident happened around 9.15am this morning, at a time when many students arrived at the school, the Spanish daily Marca reports, citing police sources.

The body was found without signs of life on a public area, very close to the school, and there were more gunshot wounds.

Police went to the scene and, according to Marca, has already launched an investigation to clarify the incident. The first assumptions indicate the possible settlement of debts as a motive for the crime.

According to information that El Periodico received from a source close to the investigation, the victim is Andrew Portov, a lawyer of Ukrainian origin and a well -known person who advised companies and citizens from Ukraine and other Eastern European countries.

Portnov was an adviser to former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, and at the time he was blacklisted by the European Union for alleged crimes related to public funds and human rights abuses in his country.

Although not convicted, he was investigated by the Ukrainian secret service for alleged links with Russia.
